Blessings Poured Out to the Lord

The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. ~Deuteronomy 28:8

He would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD —2 Samuel 23:16b

When God blesses us, we have the privilege to give them back to Him. Has God blessed you with the gift of encouragement? Then pour it out to Him by encouraging others. Has God blessed you with the gift of music? Then pour it out to Him by allowing others to hear it. Has God blessed you with children? Then pour it out to Him by teaching them to do all things for His Glory. Has God blessed you with a spouse? Then support and love your spouse so they may be better able to bring Glory to God in all things.

I think we get into trouble when we hoard God's blessings for ourselves. I believe we cannot truly feel God's love for us unless we pour it out back to Him by giving His love to others. We are selfish if we do not share His love and blessings with others. In my act of showing others the love that God has shown me, I feel God's love on a greater level. In my act of pouring out to the Lord the blessings that He has given me, I am able to feel His love and encounter His blessings on a greater, more intimate level.

We will experience God's intimacy on a deeper level when we pour out His love to Him by giving it to others. We should never hoard God's love and blessings for ourselves-- it will make us miserable! We will never be satisfied-- always wanting more for ourselves. God's love and blessings are meant to be given back to Him in the act of giving to others. When we give God's love to others and share His blessings with others we are better able to be filled continually with His love. He pours into us as we pour into others. Then, we are continually satisfied.
